eBook Week: My eBook Story by Guest Blogger Terry Fallis

As a lifelong book fanatic and a bit of an early adopter when it comes to new technology, ebooks are right in my wheelhouse. A couple of years ago I purchased my first ereader, really as an experiment. I wasn’t sure whether reading on an ereader would be the same as reading a traditional book. What did the experiment yield? Well, I discovered, much to my delight, that reading is reading is reading. In other words, after a few pages, or rather screens, the medium simply melted into the message and I was immersed in the story. I’m now on my third ereader and am still loving reading on a screen. I also think it’s wonderful to be able to carry around an entire library in one small device. It has cut down on luggage when we take our family summer vacation.

As a writer, I love the thought that my novels are being read in different formats, including ebooks. Whether you’re reading in paper form, listening to the podcast, or turning the virtual pages of an ebook, the story is paramount. The vessel is secondary. I can’t imagine I’ll ever stop buying traditional books, but I’m certainly going to keep buying lots of ebooks as well. What it really means is that I’m actually buying more books. And that’s good.  In the end, reading is reading is reading…
