Happy Agency Day (Part 1)
Incredible. The last day of our Party Like It’s $9.99 extravaganza broke every single-day-sales record we had. We sold more than twice as many books yesterday as we did the day before (our previous best-day-ever!) In fact, we sold as many books yesterday as we did in the entire previous week! Thanks everyone for coming out and stocking up on great new reads.
The other good news: now that we’ve cleaned up the empties and swept up the confetti, sales are still solid with the first round of new agency prices in place from Hachette in Canada and Hachette, Penguin, and Macmillan in the U.S.
Some other news that’s kinda cool (for us at least):
* Hachette titles may not be available at some other places, but they are definitely available here. (For the four people left on earth who have not purchased their own copy of Twilight, we’re here for you!)
* There has been plenty of coverage about Random House titles not being available on the iPad — Dan Brown, Danielle Steele, Alexander McCall Smith, John Grisham and more. Except they will be. With Kobo!
* The Kobo eReader just hit #1 on the Indigo Bestseller list. It appears $149 CAD feels about right for a beautiful, simple eInk device.
Thanks for a great few days. Next stop (we hope!): Kobo iPad App on April 3rd. Get ready!
