Posted by Kobo Labs June  14, 2012

The Kobo social reading experience just got even more addictive, with Google Play preloaded on the Kobo Vox eReader! For current Kobo Vox users, Google Play will be automatically included in the software update the next time they connect to the internet. With the new integration, Kobo Vox customers now have access to over 500,000 apps at their fingertips.

Here’s what Kobo’s Chief Technology Officer, Dan Leibu had to say of the new integration:

“Google Play is the perfect addition for the content-rich eReading environment of the Kobo Vox. This is another big step in our ability to give people an open and compelling multimedia device that can be customized to suit their needs. Having access to the thousands of games, apps and tools offered by Google Play makes the Kobo Vox an eReader and so much more.”
-          Dan Leibu, CTO, Kobo Inc.

With Google Play, the Kobo Vox will keep multi-tasking its way into customers hearts—those looking for ways to enjoy a best-in-class reading experience as well as send email, check Facebook, and browse their favourite websites. Plus the vivid 7” FFS+ multimedia touchscreen is ideally suited to catch up with your favourite eBook, watch videos with Google Play Movies or YouTube, catch up on email with Gmail or relax with a game of Cut the Rope, whether you’re indoors or out!
