Schools out for summer, but books are always in!

Posted by Kobo June  20, 2013

With the summer holidays upon us, parents are planning their children’s activities for the next few months. At Kobo we hope to instill the love of reading in kids and we have some amazing deals on eReaders, great book recommendations and some interesting facts on the increase of children reading digitally to inspire and encourage parents to get their kids reading!

We worked with the Parent Test Parent Approved™ (PTPA) to survey their community of families about how children read and if they’re reading digitally. It turns out that 44% of parents are buying eBooks for their kids, appreciating the ability to carry several books on a single eReader.

We were also happy to hear that 58% of respondents listed enjoyment as the most important aspect of their child’s reading life and that 28% of their children were reading more than three hours per week!

Until July 18, the Kobo Mini is available for $39.99 and the Kobo Touch for $69.99 at top Canadian retailers: Chapters-Indigo-Coles, Best Buy, Future Shop, Staples, Target (Mini only), The Source, Toys”R”Us, and at Kobo.com. In the U.S., parents can also take advantage of the $39.99 Kobo Mini summer offer at Kobo.com (while supplies last, please check with your local retailer).

Looking for the perfect eBook to complement your kids’ eReader? We have great suggestions that will take them though journeys filled with pirates, vampires, dwarves, detective mice, queens, kings, and a few corrupt wizards including:

For teens that love rooting for “Katniss, the girl who was on fire!” or running alongside the wolf pack, top picks this summer include:

Enjoy your holidays, have fun with your kids, and….happy reading!
