The end is just the beginning – The October List by Jeffrey Deaver

Writing a book is difficult. From plot and character development to choosing an appealing cover, it isn’t easy. Imagine, then, what it must be like to write a book in reverse.

“I had a full head of hair when I started,” said bestselling, thriller writer Jeffery Deaver.

The end is actually the beginning in Deaver’s latest novel, The October List. This book moves in reverse chronological order to get to the bottom of the kidnapping of a six-year-old.

Deaver told us that he first outlined his plot chronologically to make sure everything would work -  then twisted it. “The hard part was keeping the suspense going,” he said.

If it was difficult, it doesn’t show – the book is packed with surprises and twists, just as we’ve come to expect from Deaver.

He has a lot more to say on the creation of The October List so visit the Kobo YouTube channel to find out more in this thrilling Kobo in Conversation which we hosted in Deaver’s hometown of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
