1. The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer

Narrated by Rebecca Soler

“I highly recommend checking out these audiobooks if you've been considering reading The Lunar Chronicle series. It's an amazing series and I would highly recommend checking it out in audiobook format. If you don't know anything about The Lunar Chronicle series. It's this amazing series of sci-fi fairytale retellings. There's a lot of action, there's a lot of romance, there's plenty of diverse characters, there's a lot of hilarious moments, there's also a lot of dark moments.” jessethereader

2. The Man Called Ove by Fredrick Backman

Narrated by George Newbern

“Now this one kind of has a special place in my heart because it's one of the first audiobooks that I listened to and genuinely loved. I remember finishing this book and just feeling so good not only about the narration, I thought the narration was great, but the story itself, it's just so heartwarming.” jessethereader

3. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Narrated by a full cast

“So there are so many people who read this audiobook and that is what makes it amazing. It's such an interesting story, very unique. It's all about a boy who was raised in a graveyard so all the different ghosts [that] are raising him... All of them have a different voice actor. It's just so amazing and it really makes the story come to life.” Hailey in Bookland

4. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Narrated by Rebecca Soler

“When I found out Rebecca Soler was narrating Caraval by Stephanie Garber, I basically fell out of my chair because she's perfect for it. She does all these amazing voices, she's so good at changing her voice for all the different characters and she's able to be creepy while at the same time magical. So her doing such a magical story in this creepy, scary, dark world, I just knew it was going to be amazing, and I was not disappointed. It was such an atmospheric audiobook. I just absolutely loved it.” Hailey in Bookland

5. The Diviners series by Libba Bray

Narrated by January LaVoy

“The narrator of both books is January LaVoy. Since this book is set in the 1920s, she does '20s accents, '20s slang. She doesn't even miss a beat and she just brings it to life. There are sections in the book that involve singing - she sings the songs. She makes up her own tune and she sings it. This is a story that is extremely atmospheric and she fits the atmosphere and the tone so very well. I was so blown away. I did not want that book to end because she was just music to my ears. I really enjoyed it.” Between Chapters

6. The Illuminae Files series by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Narrated by various

"The print formats themselves are a work of art and the audio formats are just as much a work of art. Both of the audiobooks were narrated by a full cast of voice actors, probably at least like 20 people involved in each book. There is music, there's background effects... There's a song that is present in book two - they made up the music and they had somebody sing it and they interweave that throughout the book. When there's a fight scene, there's a bunch of people talking, all those voice actors come on and they say all those words at the same time and then you hear gunshots, and explosions, and running, and screaming. It is an amazing production." Between Chapters

7. Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling

Narrated by Jim Dale

“Jim Dale does the best voices and I love when an audiobook is read and the voice actor does different voices for the characters. When I was a kid I used to listen to the Harry Potter audiobooks to send me to sleep and I think if you are a Harry Potter fan then Harry Potter audiobooks are a must.” Jean Bookishthoughts

8. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Narrated by Debra Wiseman, Joel Johnstone

"... great to listen to on audiobooks because it is about a guy who's listening to all these cassette tapes of a girl telling her story of why she committed suicide. When you're listening to the audiobook it's like you are listening to those cassette tapes as well." Riley Marie

9 & 10. Bossypants by Tina Fey + Yes Please by Amy Poehler

Narrated by the authors

“This is where I really started getting into audiobooks and that was by listening to memoirs that are narrated by the authors themselves. It's nice to know what you're hearing is how the story was supposed to be read. The authors are speaking the way it was intended it to be read with all of the really specific intonations and all of the dialogue, for example. Not the way that the narrator interprets its. Two of the memoirs I first listened to were Bossypants by Tina Fey, and Yes Please by Amy Poehler. I think with these two in particular it was definitely a bonus that these were written by comedians which made for a much more humorous and just overall enjoyable experience listening to audiobooks. I often found myself laughing at some of the hilarious anecdotes that they shared and just overall it was much more engaging having that humour.” Little Book Owl
