They had just 100 words to wow him, and three finalists in the Kobo Writing Life Jeffrey Archer Short Story Challenge did just that.
Kobo read through a thousand entries to narrow the talented field to a short list of 20, and bestselling author Jeffrey Archer selected the final three. At London Book Fair, Jeffrey announced the lucky winners at our booth, and we celebrated with champagne and cake – fitting, since today is also Jeffrey’s birthday!
The three finalists in the Jeffrey Archer Short Story Challenge are:
- Timothy Reynolds, “Temper Temper”
- Robert Maslen, “Voices”
- Patsy Collins, “Out for Revenge”
Now Timothy, Robert, and Patsy have to convince Curtis Brown Creative, the writing school created by the prestigious Curtis Brown literary agency, that they have what it takes to be the challenge winner by submitting a 3,000-word excerpt from their novel-in-progress. Only one finalist will win enrolment to a Curtis Brown Creative online novel-writing course.
Kobo and Curtis Brown Creative would like to thank each aspiring author who submitted a story to the challenge— we loved reviewing the work of the talented authors who shared their ideas and creativity with us. The semi-finalist stories, including the three finalists submissions, are now available for free at Kobo.com.
