KOBO RECOGNIZED FOR INNOVATIVE DESIGN: KOBO AURA HD NAMED CES INNOVATIONS 2014 DESIGN AND ENGINEERING AWARD HONOREE

Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) recognizes the world’s first high definition eReader for its innovative design and engineering in the “Tablets, eReaders and Mobile Computing” Category

Toronto, November 13, 2013Kobo, a global leader in eReading, today announced that its Kobo Aura HD eReader has been named an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree. The Kobo Aura HD, touted as The Best eReader by the Wall Street Journal, is the world’s first high definition E Ink eReader – pushing the boundaries of design and technical capabilities to bring the best reading experience to the most passionate Readers. The device was selected by a panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of trade media for its outstanding design and engineering innovation.

“Our goal at Kobo is to create the best experience for the world’s most passionate Readers, and we’re thrilled to be honored by the CES Innovations Awards for our product design,” said Pamela Hilborn, Vice President of UX and Design, Kobo. “This eReader is meant to be visually beautiful while remaining comfortable to hold in your hands for long reading sessions. When designing the Kobo Aura HD, we drew inspiration from cues such as the raw beauty of folded paper.  When reading, we want you to forget about the technology so you can truly enjoy and immerse yourself in your favorite stories.”

The influential Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of International CES, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technology and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976. The Kobo Aura HD also recently won the German Design Award 2014.
