Tale of Kobo travels – from Canada, to New York City, from California to Korea…in as little as 5 days. What a whirlwind week this has been, and we wanted to share our excitement and key highlights with our Kobo FANS!
We kicked off the week in San Fran at the RIM DEVCON 2010 – RIM’s largest media event of the year where RIM makes their biggest announcements.
RIM announced its BlackBerry PlayBook with a reveal video where Kobo was featured alongside the other killer apps like Twitter and Youtube. Read more about it here.
Together we introduced plans to bring an industry-first social reading experience to BlackBerry users. Have a look at Kobo’s CTO on stage (scroll to 52:32 in the video) and our video showcasing the planned Kobo with BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) integration at: http://blog.kobobooks.com/BBM
Wednesday, we went public jointly with RIM announcing Kobo as THE eReading app on the BlackBerry PlayBook!
We’ve had tons of great media coverage and it just keeps coming in!
We debuted the new Kobo Wireless eReader!
Kobo threw a party ‘Style meets Function’ at a hip downtown hotel to debut the new Kobo eReader to key media in Toronto. The event kicked off with a presentation from Mike Serbinis, our CEO, which was followed with the demo team showing off the new Kobo Wireless eReader while the crowd mixed and mingled drinking Kobotinis and munching hors d’oeuvres.
Ramping up to the launch Mike was in NYC and Todd Humphrey, our EVP Business Development, was in San Francisco pre-seeding media, so that we could get great press come launch day! So far, the feedback has been great. More proof that we are moving fast and in the game.
WOW!!! Did you know that it has only been 9 months and 15 days since we launched as Kobo
