Jennifer L. Armentrout’s dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories…. which explains her dismal grades in math.

It also describes how this young author became a #1 New York Times bestseller so early in her career. A writer of young adult paranormal, science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary romance, Jennifer is today one of the world’s most successful “hybrid authors” (she publishes both independently and with traditional publishers). Her book Obsidian has been optioned for a major motion picture and her Covenant Series has been optioned for TV.

What books might we be surprised to find on your shelves?

A ton of historical romance novels. They are forever my go-to reads.

Where is your reading happy place?

In bed.

If you could live in any fictional literary world, which would you choose?

Oh, that’s a hard one. I think I might have to go with Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series. I probably wouldn’t last a day, but Tod!

If you had to name one book that made you who you are today, what would it be?

LJ Smith’s The Forbidden Game and The Secret Circle (old school right there). Those two series are why I became a writer. I was inspired.

What books are you embarrassed not to have read yet?

A classic I’ve never read is Wuthering Heights and for a current novel, I’ve never read The Hunger Games.

What do you plan to read next?

Rough Justice. I saw another author tweeting about it earlier and it piqued my interest.
